Profile
Energetic, self-directed Associate Producer with a broad range of experience and strong technical background,
currently exploring production opportunities in small-to-medium studio venues which value flexibility, efficiency,
and friendly profesionalism.
Objective
To contribute skills, talent, and energy toward the realization of games which help drive the industry forward,
platforms which build lasting communities, and creations which have a meaningful and positive impact on the human
experience.
Experience Overview
Associate Producer, Engine Tech / Tools / Tech-Art / Build Engineering / Production Test: FACTOR 5,
INC. LAIR(PS3); UNANNOUNCED Wii TITLE 1; UNANNOUNCED MULTIPLATFORM TITLE (PS3, 360, WII); UNANNOUNCED Wii
TITLE 2; UNANNOUNCED LICENSED TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE (WINPC).
Factor5 is a very fast-paced and ambitious development studio, always striving for "the bleeding edge". European in origin and maintaining a widely multi-cultural work environment, the personalities and working styles at F5 are as varied as the daily expectations. As an Associate Producer, my primary duties included:
- MANAGING MULTIPLE TEAMS - Directly responsible for 4 departments: Engine Tech, Tools, Build Engineering, and Production Test. Defined and tracked technical milestones
for each group, to accommodate 4 simultaneous projects across WinPC and all 7th-generation consoles.
- DRIVING COMMUNICATION - From pre-production through early Alpha deliveries, acted as primary contact and arbiter
between above groups and other disciplines, executive management, project Producers, and Publisher QA.
Promoted visibility and understanding between very distinct groups, departments, and individuals. Promoted a
company culture of “information push” (see Spec Check below), and established numerous central info repositories.
Initiated “Tuesday Tech Review” which helped identify and resolve mathematically challenging future tech
and tools targets.
- DEPENDENCY WRANGLING – Identified and coordinated project / cross-project dependencies and content authoring
lead-time requirements based on milestone deliveries and technical specifications. Greatly reduced technical debt
by introducing the “Spec Check” system.
- SPRINT MASTERING – Utilized a hybrid of methodologies from SCRUM / Agile / Waterfall development for the Tools
and Tech teams, developed on a per-team basis according to “what works best for us” - yet compliant with broader
goals and milestone targets.
- PRIORITIZATION AND DECISION-MAKING, SHORT-ORDER AND DATA-DRIVEN – Utilized and developed decision-making skills
based on broad experience, informed by proven good judgment. Developed several custom roadmap datasheets
and methods, and worked with department Leads to ensure that data-driven decisions were aligned with, and
amenable to, higher creative visions.
- MENTORING AND DEVELOPMENT – Worked with production testers on skill development and methods to excel in their
positions and advance their careers – one thus far promoted to Assistant Producer and another into Build Engineering.
- PROJECT TRACKING SOFTWARE EXPERTISE - including MS Project, Excel, Hansoft, Jira, Test Track, File Maker Pro, plus
exploratory work with The Connector and Gantt Project.
